Facebook Wants You to Share Your Organs

Zuckerberg hopes to make organ donation the new Farmville.

Not satisfied to merely have his users share their photos, opinions, hopes, and fears, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg is now calling on the 900 million or so users on the social network to share their vital organs, too. Facebookers (well, American ones, anyway) can now register as an organ donor through the site, simply by heading on over to your timeline (remember when we used to call it a “wall”?), clicking on the “life event” tab above your status, scrolling down to the “health and wellness” button, and selecting “organ donor.” While it doesn’t appear to be available in Canada just yet (surprise, surprise), Zuckerberg says he hopes more awareness about organ donation will be raised – and in turn, more donors registered – by having people announce their decision to fork over their liver, kidneys, and other internals to someone in need once they’ve gone to the great social network in the sky.
